Christ Church is now normally open for prayer and quiet reflection, Monday to Saturday, about 9.30 to 3.30

Christianity Explored! The fourth session at GS is on Friday 06 November at 5pm. The fifth session at Christ Church is on Thursday 05 November at 7.30pm. You are most welcome to join either group, and to invite friends or family to come with you.

Criss Cross planning meeting:  Thursday 29 Oct. 10.30am in JR.

‘Open to God’– Thursday 29 October, 7.30pm in JR. The first of a new monthly gathering to seek God’s presence in creative ways. Led by Rev Debbie Watkin. All welcome.

Annual Memorial Services: Sunday 1 November at CC and 8 November at GS, both at 4.00pm – an opportunity quietly to remember our loved-ones departed and to renew our trust in God’s promises. If you would like a name read in the service, please add it to the list in church.

Remembrance Sunday 8th November: 10.30am Joint Service at Tettenhall Wood URC in Mount Road. There is no 11.00 service at CC. (8.00am service at CC and 10.00am Café Church at GS continue as usual, containing their own acts of remembrance.)

The funeral of Alan Duffy will be held on Monday 02 November 2026, 1pm at CC, 2pm at Danescourt.

Christmas Fair Planning Meeting: at GS on 07 November, 10:00am-12:00pm at Coffee, Chat, Craft and Communion.  Have ideas, suggestions, or would like to run a stall? Please come along or let Stephanie or Pam know.

Pilgrimage to Greece in the Footsteps of St Paul. Rev Phil is planning to lead this pilgrimage from 13 to 20 September 2027. Sites to be visited include Thessalonica, Philippi, Meteora, Delphi, Athens and Corinth. Brochures available in church or from Rev Phil.

RECYCLING  Crisp packets continue to be collected at Christ Church. Thank you for your care for our planet; every little helps!

A Rocha Eco-Tips for October: Greening your home this Autumn. Tackle climate change and reduce your heating bills by finding and reducing the draughts in your home. Clean radiators and put in radiator reflector foil or baking foil behind the radiator to improve efficiency

Notes from PCC meeting held 24th September 2026 - 9 in attendance. 8 apologies.

Minutes of the meeting held on 25th June and extra ordinary meeting 26th July agreed as a true record.

3 matters from the 25th June meeting addressed.

·         No further update  re CAP. David Hughes to follow through.

·         Youth group at The Church of the Good Shepherd has been withdrawn but other avenues are being explored.

Safeguarding. No concern raised. Material previously distributed re a Healthy Church was discussed. Also a reminder we are all responsible for safeguarding and any concerns to be brought to the attention of the PSO – Caroline Seaton.

Good Shepherd report. PCC agreed the expenditure of a Defibrillator to be displayed outside the Church as not one in the area. Building development on going.

Several issues are being explored. Car parking issues following anti-social parking and  anti-social behaviour has driven this matter, along with a Neighbourhood Watch scheme; and an electronic noticeboard to replace the current one.

Christ Church Worship Committee. Christmas service discussed. To hold combined Christingle/Crib service on 24th December. Criss Cross families to be invited to the Carol service on 20th December. Date of Quiet service yet to be decided.

Fabric and finance. Two quotes for damage to organ have been submitted to the Decorators for their insurance company to follow up.

Pastoral meeting report was received.

Treasurer’s report.  Christ Church running at a slight loss each month. People to be encouraged to reviews their giving either from pulpit or through a possible planning giving scheme.                                                                                                                                                      No report available from Good Shepherd.

Charitable giving.  General allocation: It was agreed to re-allocate available funds, first by combining the totals from the two Churches, and splitting equally between home and overseas

Overseas : Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF) for 3 years: £3000 each year.

CMS – Marcio and Naomie – supported for 2 3-year periods but due to circumstances a possible £1000 to be given.

Home giving – 3 year commitment agreed last year to Children’s Air Ambulance, Compton Care and Friends of Di’s kitchen allocating £1100 to each. CAP project to be confirmed.

AOB New group –  ‘Open to God’ starting in November.

Deanery synod at CC 25th Oct. New Rural Dean – RevMerry Smith from Pattingham.

Easter 2027- Passion Play in Wolverhampton.  Christian art in Mander Centre during Holy Week                                                                                                                                                           - Salt Mine Production in Feb 2027 at CC – ‘Theirs is the Kingdom’.                                                           

DONM 26th November. Standing committee 10th November.  Meeting ended 9.40pm with the Grace.
